Controlling Toddler Obesity - September 8th, 2009

It always cracked me up.  Even when I was a kid, they had the Maury Povich shows that would have these obese toddlers, literally toddlers that weighed more than I do, which is literally quite ridiculous to say the least.  But you would get parents who would basically say he loves fatty foods and I can’t deny him.  Yes you can!  Who’s the parent here, and moreover, who do you really think taught the kid to love those foods and eat them on a regular basis.  So this being said, one of the easiest ways to control your child is to first of all be the parent.  Chances are, at toddler age, they can’t actually reach the cupboards or anything else.  You have to supply that food to them.  Moreover, they don’t really know unless you have always fed them a certain type of food that they only like to eat that food.  Stand up and diversify a little.  And finally, keep in mind that the toddler in general controls his own portions.  Part of the reason that quite frankly they learn to eat more is because they get full and then we basically force them to eat more.  So it’s all on the parents to take care of this.
