Here is an interesting thing–praying for sick people actually works!  Its not just the priests who say that, either, but it has been scientifically proven in several different studies.  Basically, they had people pray for people with serious illnesses that they didn’t know, and compared a fairly large sample with other seriously ill people who had no one praying for them.  Over and over again, the people that were prayed for fared significantly better and were more likely to get well.

If I can remember right, it wasn’t a certain denominational prayer that people said, but a fairly common prayer said by people with faith that the prayer would work.  How this actually works, no one knows, but it is cool that you can conclusively show the results concretely of something as abstract as faith and prayer.  Skeptics can say what they want, but it is clear that this works.  People of faith could have and would have told you that from eons hence, but in this world everyone wants to see a double blind scientific study, and to leave the preaching for the choir.
