Walking To Lose Weight - August 19th, 2009

I walk and I lose weight.  I do it with my dogs, and I always when I go to the gym go on inclines, and I lose weight.  But for some of you, you feel like you are walking in general terms and not losing weight for your greater efforts.  But that being said, you should consider your real results and your real expectations.  I mean if you expect to lose a pound per day, you are going to fail if you are using healthy mechanisms and actually want to keep the weight off.  That’s a simple fact of life.  So you have to realize that if you are losing 1-2 pounds per week, you are not failing, and frankly you need to adjust your expectations.  Sorry, but that’s the way it is.  However, another thing to consider is your workout plan and how you’re doing it.  It’s quite possible that you are moseying along and expecting that it will burn tons of calories.  No, you actually have to expend some energy while you are doing this.  So you may want to pick up your speed.  In addition, incline helps, so you may want to look into a greater incline. You may also want to increase your time.  But if you are doing all this and not losing weight, you may want to look at your diet and talk to your doctor.  It’s possible that you have a thyroid disorder or some other problem.  But frankly sometimes the easiest answer is the best answer.
