I’ve known so many to say that they have this, that, or the other thing in their daily lives, mostly at work, so they don’t need to exercise more. Usually speaking, I find this to be an excuse. Just because people in Europe happen to walk more doesn’t mean your walking is enough. Frankly, chances are you probably aren’t walking to and from work or at least to and from the metro station, getting up and down those stairs, and then taking the stairs to your job on the 5th or 6th floor of the building or higher every day. Chances are you aren’t really getting as much exercise as you think, and realistically speaking, chances are you are probably eating larger portions and fattier foods than the average European that happens to be skinnier than you. So no, it isn’t enough, and some of them still choose to work out anyway. And realistically, my dad liked to tell us this because he went swimming for an hour in the morning. As I found out actually going with him, he was sitting in the hot tub the whole time, which would explain why despite his “exercise” he still had serious weight problems. So when people say something like that, I am more inclined to be rather skeptical in general terms.
